About this opportunity

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Agricultural Marketing Service (USDA AMS) is seeking applications to support the development, coordination, and expansion of local and regional food business enterprises that function as intermediaries in indirect producer-to-consumer marketing. The program requires applicants to demonstrate alignment with program objectives, technical merit, achievability, qualified expertise with committed partners, and a sound fiscal plan, with applications evaluated on a 100-point scale across these five criteria categories. Eligible applicants include agricultural businesses and cooperatives, CSA networks, economic development corporations, food councils, local governments, nonprofits, producer networks, regional farmers market authorities, and tribal governments operating as domestic entities within the United States and its territories. All applicants must provide a 25 percent cost share from non-Federal sources and submit applications electronically through Grants.gov, including completed SF-424 and SF-424A forms, a project narrative, letters of commitment from partners, and cost share verification letters. The application deadline is June 5, 2026, at 11:59 PM Eastern Time, with priority consideration given to projects benefiting low-income and low-food-access census tracts or Regional Food Systems Partnership recipients.

Approximately $13.84 million is available for competitive grants across four project types: Planning projects ($25,000–$100,000 over 24 months), Implementation projects ($100,000–$500,000 over 36 months), Turnkey Marketing and Promotion projects ($50,000–$100,000 over 24 months), and Turnkey Recruitment and Training projects ($50,000–$100,000 over 24 months). Projects must be located and conducted within the United States and its eligible territories, with performance periods ranging from 24 to 36 months depending on project type. Grant recipients are required to submit annual performance reports and comply with USDA General Terms and Conditions throughout the project period.
