About this opportunity
The Health Resources and Services Administration is soliciting applications for the Leadership Education in Adolescent Health (LEAH) Program, a grant initiative establishing adolescent and young adult health graduate training programs under the Special Projects of Regional and National Significance (SPRANS) program (CFDA 93.110); no application deadline is specified in this forecast posting.
Eligible applicants are domestic non-profit institutions of higher education, including public colleges and universities accredited by a regionalized body approved by the Secretary of Education, and teaching hospitals with formal affiliation to an accredited school of medicine and full-time academic medical staff holding faculty status. Individuals are not eligible. "Domestic" encompasses the 50 states, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Northern Mariana Islands, American Samoa, Guam, U.S. Virgin Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Republic of the Marshall Islands, and Republic of Palau.
The program trains health care professionals to address chronic disease prevention and expand access to high-quality, team-based health care for the adolescent and young adult population. Competitive awards are typically made for up to 2 to 5 years, subject to fund availability. Final funding decisions are issued 4 to 6 months after application receipt. Following initial awards, annual noncompetitive continuation awards may be made contingent on submission of noncompetitive applications or progress reports, availability of funds, and determination that continued funding serves the federal government's interest. All qualified applications receive objective review committee evaluation; the HRSA program official with delegated authority makes final selection decisions. Evaluation criteria vary by specific program and will be detailed in the notice of funding opportunity.
