About this opportunity
This Notice of Funding Opportunity announces competitive grants from the National Park Service for the Land and Water Conservation Fund State Assistance Program and the Department of Defense Readiness and Environmental Protection Integration Program. Eligible state governments may nominate land acquisition and outdoor recreation development projects located within designated Readiness and Environmental Protection Integration partnership areas near military installations. Anticipated awards range from $250,000 to $5 million each for approximately 15 projects totaling $40 million. Applications are due by July 12, 2024 and will be evaluated based on improving public access to recreation, promoting compatible military goals, partner collaboration, alignment with state plans, and project feasibility.
Funded projects must acquire land or develop recreation facilities to provide compatible public outdoor recreation opportunities while also supporting installation readiness and compatible land uses. A non-federal match of 1:1 is required and properties must be maintained for outdoor public recreation in perpetuity. Grants will range from $250,000 to $5,000,000 each for approximately 15 awards totaling $40,000,000. Work will be performed within designated Readiness and Environmental Protection Integration partnership areas near military installations.
