About this opportunity

This Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Information Innovation Office (I2O) seeks revolutionary research ideas for topics not addressed by ongoing I2O programs or other published solicitations. Potential proposers are encouraged to review current I2O programs and solicitations to avoid duplication. Proposals should investigate innovative approaches that enable revolutionary advances in software science, technology, or systems, with a focus on four key thrust areas: proficient artificial intelligence, resilient and secure systems, advantage in cyber operations, and confidence in the information domain. Proposals will be evaluated based on overall scientific and technical merit, potential contribution and relevance to DARPA's mission, and cost realism. Abstracts are due on October 29, 2024, with full proposals due on the same date.

Multiple awards are anticipated under this opportunity, with funding dependent on proposal quality and availability. The awards may take the form of procurement contracts, grants, cooperative agreements, or Other Transactions. The federal grant program under which this opportunity is assigned is the DARPA Research and Technology Development program (CFDA 12.910), which typically funds projects ranging from $250,000 to $5 million over 12-36 month periods, with cooperative agreements being the most common assistance type.
