About this opportunity
The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) is seeking applications for a cooperative agreement to develop and implement an HIV clinical training curriculum at a minimum of three primary care residency programs. The purpose is to train primary care providers, including those in internal medicine, family medicine, nurse practitioner, and physician assistant programs, to provide HIV care and treatment, particularly in communities most impacted by HIV. The goal is to increase the number and diversity of HIV providers. Eligible applicants include public and nonprofit private entities, academic institutions, and tribal organizations. Applications are due by July 24, 2024, with awards expected to start on September 30, 2024.
The expected total available funding is $450,000 per year for a four-year period of performance. This opportunity is funded through HRSA's AIDS Education and Training Centers (AETC) program, which aims to increase the number of health care professionals educated and trained to provide HIV care and treatment.
Synopsis
The purpose of this demonstration project is two-fold: train primary care providers that are likely to practice in communities most impacted and at-risk for HIV and to determine the feasibility and return on investment should the training of primary care residents in HIV be incorporated as a core component of the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program Part F AIDS Education and Training Centers (AETC) Program.
