About this opportunity
This grant opportunity seeks to expand substance use disorder treatment and recovery support services in existing adult and family drug treatment courts. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration will award grants to support a continuum of care including prevention, harm reduction, treatment, and recovery services for individuals with substance use disorders involved with the courts. Applicants must propose projects addressing a priority need identified by SAMHSA and demonstrate experience providing substance use disorder treatment. Applications will be evaluated based on demonstrated understanding of the issue, proposed approach and outcomes, and budget. Applications are due no later than April 1, 2024.
Funding will be provided through the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Projects of Regional and National Significance program. Grant awards can support local and state government agencies and organizations working to increase access to care. Funded projects will be expected to be performed at locations serving active adult and family drug treatment courts throughout the United States.
Synopsis
The purpose of this program is to expand substance use disorder (SUD) treatment and recovery support services in existing drug courts. The program recognizes the need for treatment instead of incarceration for individuals with SUDs. Recipients are expected to provide prevention, harm reduction, treatment, and recovery services for individuals with SUD involved with the courts. With this program, SAMHSA aims to improve abstinence from substance use, housing stability, employment status, social connectedness, health/behavioral/social consequences, and reduce criminal justice involvement.
