The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) within the Department of Health and Human Services is seeking applications for the Graduate Psychology Education (GPE) Program. The purpose of this grant is to train doctoral health service psychology students, interns, and postdoctoral residents in integrated, interdisciplinary behavioral health, with a focus on trauma-informed care and substance use disorder prevention and treatment. The program aims to prepare these trainees for practice in community-based primary care settings in high-need and high-demand areas. Applicants must demonstrate partnerships between academic institutions and primary care sites serving high-need populations. Applications will be evaluated based on merit review criteria outlined in the Notice of Funding Opportunity.
The total available funding is approximately $22.8 million, which is expected to support up to 50 grants of up to $450,000 annually for a 3-year period from July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2028. At least 25% of trainee time must be spent on opioid use disorder and substance use disorder prevention and treatment, and trainees must receive team-based care experience with at least two other health disciplines, including tele-behavioral health training.
