About this opportunity
The U.S. Department of Labor Women's Bureau is soliciting applications for approximately $10 million in technical assistance grants to community-based organizations serving women in apprenticeable and nontraditional occupations, with applications due July 6, 2026. The program will award 13 to 28 grants ranging from $350,000 to $750,000 each with no cost-sharing requirement.
Eligible applicants are 501(c)(3) nonprofits, non-501(c)(3) nonprofits, and other community-based organizations, excluding institutions of higher education. Faith-based organizations meeting the CBO definition are encouraged to apply. FY2025 WANTO grantees are ineligible; past and current recipients from other fiscal years may apply. Applicants must demonstrate documented experience preparing women for apprenticeable occupations, working with employers to place women in such roles, having tradeswomen or women in nontraditional occupations as active members, and delivering relevant technical assistance.
Projects must focus on developing or enhancing pre-apprenticeship and Registered Apprenticeship programs, providing employer and union orientations and resources on creating inclusive environments for women, or establishing support groups, networks, and supportive services to improve retention. Priority industries include Advanced Manufacturing, Artificial Intelligence, Information Technology, mining, and Shipbuilding and Defense Industrial Base, which earn 5 bonus points. Grantees may allocate up to 15 percent of funds for supportive services including childcare, transportation, housing, language assistance, job-related equipment, and training tuition.
Performance period is 24 months beginning September 30, 2026, nationwide and in U.S. territories. Applications must include Form SF-424, budget form, 15-page project narrative with sections on need, geographic diversification, outcomes, design, evaluation, capacity, and past performance, plus a three-page abstract and letter demonstrating CBO eligibility. Submission is through Grants.gov only; applicants must register with SAM.gov and obtain a Unique Entity Identifier before applying.
