About this opportunity

The Department of Defense (DoD) is offering the FY24 Defense Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (DEPSCoR) - Capacity Building (CB) grant opportunity. The program is sponsored by the DoD Basic Research Office, managed by the Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR), and administered through the Office of Naval Research (ONR). The key objectives are to increase the number of university researchers in eligible states/territories capable of performing DoD-relevant science and engineering research, enhance the capabilities of eligible institutions of higher education (IHEs) to develop competitive DoD-related research, and increase the probability of long-term growth in competitively awarded federal funding for research at IHEs in eligible states/territories. Proposals must address technical basic research areas outlined in the Army, Navy, and Air Force broad agency announcements, and the full proposal submission deadline is November 12, 2024.

The Basic Research Office anticipates awarding between 1-4 grants up to $1.5 million each (total cost), with each award funded up to $750,000 per year for 2 years. This program is funded under the Basic Scientific Research (CFDA 12.431) federal grant program and is open to IHEs in 38 eligible states and territories.
