About this opportunity

The National Park Service (NPS) is offering the FY2024 Historic Preservation Fund - Semiquincentennial Grants, a competitive funding opportunity to support the physical preservation of a broad variety of cultural resources associated with the founding of America as a nation in commemoration of the country's 250th anniversary. Eligible applicants include state/local governments, federally recognized tribes, higher education institutions, and nonprofits. Projects must involve properties listed in or eligible for the National Register of Historic Places and comply with preservation standards. Applications are due by March 18, 2025, and successful projects are expected to begin around August 1, 2025 and complete within 3 years.

The program will award approximately 15 grants ranging from $15,000 to $750,000, with no cost-sharing requirement. Pre-preservation projects such as architectural plans are eligible for $15,000-$75,000, while physical preservation projects range from $75,000-$750,000. State-owned properties will receive priority consideration per Congressional directive. Administrative and indirect costs combined cannot exceed 25% of the total project budget.

Synopsis

The National Park Service's (NPS) Semiquincentennial Grant Program will support the physical preservation of a broad variety of cultural resources associated with the founding of America as a nation in commemoration of the country's semiquincentennial (250th anniversary). These grants are funded by the Historic Preservation Fund (HPF), administered by the NPS, and will fund physical preservation to properties listed in or eligible for the National Register of Historic Places, including buildings, sites, structures, objects, or historic districts. Grants are awarded through a competitive process and do not require non-Federal match, though match may be considered as a competitive factor. State owned properties will receive priority per Congressional directive.
