About this file

This is a checklist document for completing Historic Preservation Fund grant applications specifically for preservation projects under the Save America's Treasures and Semi-quincentennial Grant Programs administered by the National Park Service (NPS).

The checklist covers essential application components including: verification that SF-424A, SF-424C, and Budget Justification totals match; confirmation that budgets include administrative costs and required elements like public notices, project signage, and preservation covenants; required attachments such as Project Narrative, Budget Narrative, and Project Images; necessary documentation like Owner Consent letters (if applicable); and guidance on responding to merit review criteria. The checklist emphasizes that project summaries should focus specifically on project goals rather than broader organizational objectives, and that supporting images must clearly demonstrate proposed work. While provided as a convenience tool, this checklist is not a required deliverable for grant applications. Additional application tips and FAQs are available at https://go.nps.gov/apptips.
