About this opportunity
The Department of Health and Human Services Administration for Community Living (ACL) is seeking applications for the FY2024 Grants to Highest State Courts to Improve Guardianship under the Elder Justice Innovation Grants (EJIG) program. The purpose of this opportunity is to enhance the fairness, effectiveness, timeliness, safety, and integrity of adult guardianship/conservatorship proceedings in states. Eligible applicants are the highest courts of states, who may apply to collect and utilize data, implement safeguards to protect rights of persons under guardianship, and/or implement systems to screen, train, and monitor guardians. Letters of intent are requested by May 17, 2024, and applications are due by June 18, 2024, with an anticipated award date of September 1, 2024.
ACL plans to award up to six (6) cooperative agreements ranging from $250,000 to $500,000 per year for a 36-month project period. The required cost share is 20%, and continuation funding for years 2 and 3 will be reviewed on a non-competitive basis, subject to availability of funds and satisfactory progress. This funding opportunity is authorized under the Older Americans Act and the Elder Justice Act.
Synopsis
The purpose of the EJIG program is to support the development and advancement of new and emerging issues related to elder justice. Funded projects will contribute to the improvement of the field of elder abuse prevention and intervention at large, such as by developing materials, programs, etc. that can be widely disseminated and/or replicated, or by establishing and/or contributing to the evidence-base of knowledge. For this opportunity, awards will be made to the highest state courts to improve guardianship systems.
