About this opportunity

The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is offering the FY2023 and FY2024 Radon Testing and Mitigation Demonstration for Public Housing grant. This grant aims to provide funds to public housing agencies (PHAs) to conduct testing and mitigation of radon in the units they manage, as well as develop a plan for future testing and mitigation. Eligible applicants are PHAs with properties located in EPA Radon Zones 1 or 2. Evaluation criteria include the applicant's capacity and experience, demonstrated need based on property location and previous testing, and the soundness of the project plan and cost estimate. The application deadline is July 15, 2024.

Approximately $5,064,179 in funding is available, with an estimated 12 awards expected to be made. The maximum award amount per project period is $600,000, and the performance period cannot exceed 36 months. The grant falls under HUD's Healthy Homes Weatherization Cooperation Demonstration Grants program (CFDA 14.901), which supports demonstrations that integrate healthy homes remediation and weatherization activities in lower-income communities.
