About this opportunity

The Department of Housing and Urban Development is accepting applications for approximately $4.04 billion in Continuum of Care Competition and Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program Grants with an application deadline of 8:00 PM Eastern Time on September 30, 2026. Due to a court order, the original August 26, 2026 deadline is no longer in force; HUD reopened the competition with the September 30 deadline. Approximately 7,000 awards are anticipated, with an award date of December 1, 2026 and performance period from January 1, 2027 through December 31, 2027.

Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations with 501(c)(3) status, state governments, county governments, city or township governments, special district governments, public institutions of higher education, federally recognized Native American tribal governments, public housing authorities, and Native American tribal organizations. For-profit entities and individuals are ineligible. A 25 percent cost sharing or matching requirement applies to all grant funds except leasing funds; Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program renewal or replacement projects may be exempt if applicants demonstrate reasonable steps to maximize available resources or hold previously approved match exemptions.

The program funds rapid rehousing, transitional housing, permanent supportive housing, supportive services only, and Homeless Management Information Systems for individuals and families experiencing homelessness, persons fleeing domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, or stalking, and youth ages 24 and younger experiencing homelessness including unaccompanied and pregnant or parenting youth. At least $52 million is designated for Domestic Violence, Dating Violence, Sexual Assault, and Stalking projects, with an additional $52 million available from prior appropriations for the same purpose.

Grant terms range from one to 60 months depending on project type, with renewal projects limited to one-year terms. Applications must be submitted via e-snaps.hud.gov; applicants must maintain active SAM.gov and esnaps.hud.gov accounts throughout the application and award periods. The program operates under CFDA 14.267.
