About this opportunity

The FY 2026 AmeriCorps State and National Native Nations Grants program, administered by the Corporation for National and Community Service, seeks to fund tribal governments and tribal organizations to deploy AmeriCorps members in evidence-based or evidence-informed community service interventions. Eligible applicants must be federally recognized tribal governments or tribal organizations controlled, authorized, or chartered by federally recognized Indian Tribes and must register with the System for Award Management (SAM). The program prioritizes funding for initiatives addressing civic engagement, youth mental health, STEM education at Bureau of Indian Education schools and Tribal Colleges, Native language preservation, sustainable food systems, economic opportunity including broadband access, healthcare services addressing Missing and Murdered Indigenous People, and veteran support. Applications will be evaluated on three criteria: Program Design (50%), Organizational Capability (25%), and Cost-Effectiveness and Budget Adequacy (25%), with particular emphasis on evidence-based approaches. The application deadline is May 20, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time, with successful applicants to be notified by early July 2026 and awards issued by end of July 2026.

Awards will be structured as three-year grants, with only the first year initially funded, and the maximum cost per Member Service Year is $25,000 for cost reimbursement grants. AmeriCorps members will receive annual living allowances ranging from $8,568 to $40,800 depending on service hours and can earn Segal AmeriCorps Education Awards upon successful completion of service. The program waives matching requirements and provides Match Replacement Funds at rates of 24-30% for severely economically distressed communities depending on program year. Services will be performed within tribal communities throughout the United States, with specific focus on addressing community needs identified by tribal applicants. New applicants are eligible to apply for Cost Reimbursement, Education Award Program (EAP), and Professional Corps grant types.
