About this opportunity
The Corporation for National and Community Service seeks applications for the FY 2026 AmeriCorps State and National Competitive Grants to deploy AmeriCorps members who will provide community service addressing unmet needs across multiple sectors including education, health, disaster relief, environment, and community development. Eligible applicants include state and local governments, tribal organizations, higher education institutions, and nonprofit organizations that must maintain valid System for Award Management (SAM) registration and a Unique Entity Identifier. Applicants must propose evidence-based or evidence-informed program designs with a minimum of 20 AmeriCorps members (except continuation applicants, Indian tribes, and formula applicants) and demonstrate organizational capability to recruit, train, and manage members effectively. Proposals will be evaluated based on Program Design (50 percent), Organizational Capability (25 percent), and Cost-Effectiveness and Budget Adequacy (25 percent). The application deadline is March 31, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time, with successful applicants notified by mid-June 2026 and awards issued by mid-August 2026.
Awards will be structured as three-year grants with maximum costs per Member Service Year (MSY) of $25,000, with living allowances for full-time members ranging from $20,400 to $40,800. Cost Reimbursement grants require matching funds at 24 percent for the initial three-year period, escalating to 30 percent by year ten, while Fixed Amount grants have no matching requirement. Services will be performed at applicant organizations and community sites throughout the United States where AmeriCorps members serve. Continuation awards in years two and three depend on future appropriations and satisfactory performance, with pre-award costs approved for one month prior to program start. Grant recipients must maintain all financial and program records for three years from submission of the final Federal Financial Report and comply with AmeriCorps regulations, Uniform Guidance, and National Service Criminal History Check requirements.
