About this opportunity

The Fiscal Year 2024 State Fire Training Systems Grant (SFTSG) is a $1 million funding opportunity administered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the U.S. Fire Administration (USFA), National Fire Academy (NFA). The grant provides approximately 50 awards of up to $20,000 each to state government agencies designated by state legislation or the Governor to operate the state fire service training program. The goal is to enhance public safety by promoting professional development of the fire and emergency response community in areas such as leadership, incident management, community risk reduction, and training delivery. Eligible applicants must register in the System for Award Management (SAM.gov) and apply through the FEMA Grants Outcomes (FEMA GO) system by the deadline of July 5, 2024. FEMA anticipates making award selections by August 1, 2024 and issuing awards by September 13, 2024. The period of performance for the grants is 12 months.

The SFTSG program provides funding to state fire service training agencies to support the direct delivery of NFA courses, the distribution of course materials, and efforts to tailor the training to meet state-specific needs. Awards typically range from $20,000 to $40,000 and are intended to enhance preparedness and resilience through professional development of fire and emergency response personnel within the recipient's state.
