About this opportunity
The Elder Justice Innovation Grants (EJIG) FY2025, issued by the Department of Health and Human Services Administration for Community Living, seeks to support the development and advancement of innovative approaches to elder justice and adult maltreatment prevention. The program aims to fund projects that reduce adult maltreatment, preserve autonomy, restore healthy living situations, and improve well-being for adults experiencing abuse, neglect, or financial exploitation. Key objectives include developing, testing, and disseminating innovative prevention and intervention strategies for Adult Protective Services (APS). Evaluation criteria will focus on the project's ability to prevent maltreatment, demonstrate measurable outcomes for at-risk individuals, and contribute to the field's understanding of elder justice. Applicants must provide a project narrative, logic model, evaluation plan, and comprehensive budget justification, with emphasis on stakeholder involvement and potential for broader impact. The Letters of Intent are due 15 days from the July 10, 2025 publication date, with the full application deadline set for August 11, 2025.
The grant will award up to eight cooperative agreements, with individual grant amounts ranging from $250,000 to $500,000 per budget period over a 36-month project period. The total estimated funding is $3,000,000, with a required 25% non-federal cost-sharing or matching requirement. Eligible applicants include unrestricted domestic public or private non-profit entities, with the restriction that subrecipients can perform no more than 30% of substantive programmatic activities. The anticipated project start date is September 30, 2025, with continuation funding subject to non-competitive review based on satisfactory progress and government interest. Applicants must be prepared to provide a Negotiated Indirect Cost Rate Agreement (NICRA) if requesting rates different from the de minimis rate.
Synopsis
The purpose of the EJIG program is to support the development and advancement of new and emerging issues related to elder justice. Funded projects will contribute to the improvement of the field of elder abuse prevention and intervention at large, such as by developing materials, programs, etc. that can be widely disseminated and/or replicated, or by establishing and/or contributing to the evidence-base of knowledge.
