The U.S. Geological Survey's (USGS) Mineral Resources Program is seeking proposals for the Earth Mapping Resources Initiative (Earth MRI) Mine Waste Cooperative Agreements in Fiscal Year 2025. Proposals will be reviewed by a peer panel and must meet minimum scoring criteria to be considered for funding. The application deadline is May 14, 2025.
Approximately $5 million is available for allocation through this competitive grant opportunity, with individual awards ranging from $3,000 to $356,000. The cooperative agreements have a maximum performance period of 24 months, and all funds must be obligated by September 30, 2025. Eligible applicants are state geological surveys, and universities may submit proposals on behalf of state geological surveys.
