About this opportunity
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS), is requesting applications for the fiscal year (FY) 2024 Dairy Business Innovation (DBI) Initiatives program. The program assists existing DBI initiatives in managing regional efforts to support dairy businesses in the development, production, marketing, and distribution of dairy products. The key objectives are to diversify dairy product markets, promote business development that diversifies farmer income through processing and marketing innovation, and encourage the use of regional milk production. Eligible applicants are limited to the four current DBI initiatives located in California, Tennessee, Vermont, and Wisconsin. Applications will be evaluated on criteria such as project alignment, technical approach, key personnel and partners, and budget. The application deadline is 11:59 PM Eastern Time on August 27, 2024.
The DBI Initiatives program will provide approximately $12 million in total funding for the four existing initiatives to perform project activities from FY 2024 through FY 2027. The initiatives must allocate at least 50% of the funds to subgrants for dairy businesses to support modernization, specialization, value-added processing, and product development. Awards will be non-competitive, as this funding opportunity is limited to the four current DBI initiatives.
