About this opportunity
The purpose of the Community-Based Maternal Behavioral Health Services Program is to improve access to evidence-based, timely, and culturally relevant maternal mental health and substance use intervention and treatment by strengthening community referral pathways. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is the funding agency for this cooperative agreement opportunity. Recipients will be expected to collaborate with pregnancy and postpartum healthcare organizations, refer individuals in need of behavioral health care to the appropriate entities, and provide short-term mental health and substance use services to those who cannot access care. The proposal submission deadline is September 9, 2024.
Recent grant awards under the broader Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Projects of Regional and National Significance program have ranged from $60,000 to over $8 million, with many in the $1-4 million range, typically spanning 3-5 year project periods. The places of performance are typically dispersed across states or regions to address local needs while developing best practices with national significance.
