About this opportunity

The National Institutes of Health is accepting applications for change of recipient organization under a Type 7 Parent Clinical Trial Optional mechanism, with a deadline of July 12, 2027. Applicants must hold specific NIH grants listed in the Activity Code section and seek to transfer their award to a new recipient organization; no guarantee exists that awards will transfer, and all applicants are encouraged to discuss potential requests with the awarding Institute before submission.

Eligible applicant categories span state governments, independent school districts, tribal organizations, city and township governments, special district governments, public and Indian housing authorities, nonprofits both 501(c)(3) and non-501(c)(3), county governments, higher education institutions (public and private), small businesses, for-profit organizations, and other entity types. Additional eligible applicants include Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian Serving Institutions, Asian American Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institutions, faith-based and community-based organizations, Hispanic-serving institutions, historically black colleges and universities, Indian tribal governments other than federally recognized, tribally controlled colleges and universities, non-domestic entities, regional organizations, and U.S. territories or possessions.

This opportunity covers multiple federal grant programs spanning cancer detection and diagnosis research (CFDA 93.394), cancer treatment research (93.395), cancer cause and prevention research (93.393), cancer biology research (93.396), cancer control (93.399), cancer research manpower (93.398), and cancer centers support grants (93.397), as well as programs in lung diseases, cardiovascular diseases, arthritis and musculoskeletal diseases, diabetes and digestive and kidney diseases, child health and human development, environmental health, and numerous other disease research areas administered across the National Institutes of Health. Applications for change of recipient organization are treated as prior approval requests and are routed directly to the Grants Management Specialist named in the current award rather than undergoing competitive review. The decision whether to approve the transfer depends on whether such a change is programmatically permitted for the particular grant type.

Synopsis

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) hereby notifies recipient organizations holding specific types of NIH grants, listed within the Activity Code section above, that applications for change of recipient organization may be submitted to this NOFO. This assumes such a change is programmatically permitted for the particular grant. Applications for change of recipient organization are considered prior approval requests (as described in Section 8.1.2.7 of the NIH Grants Policy Statement) and will be routed for consideration directly to the Grants Management Specialist named in the current award. Although requests for change of recipient organization may be submitted through this NOFO, there is no guarantee that an award will be transferred to the new organization. All applicants are encouraged to discuss potential requests with the awarding IC before submission.
