About this opportunity
The National Institutes of Health National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) is soliciting applications for access to the Center for Inherited Disease Research (CIDR) High Throughput Sequencing and Genotyping Resource, an NIH-wide initiative that provides genomic services and statistical genetics support to advance gene identification and specimen characterization through next-generation sequencing and high-throughput genotyping.
Eligible applicants include higher education institutions (public and private), state and local governments, small businesses, nonprofit organizations (501(c)(3) and non-501(c)(3)), tribal governments and organizations, federal agencies, faith-based and community-based organizations, non-domestic entities, and U.S. territories or possessions. Clinical trials are not allowed under this mechanism (X01).
CIDR specializes in genomic platforms and services that cannot be efficiently performed in individual investigator laboratories, offering the most current technologies alongside statistical genetic support. The resource is designed to support 1) identification of genes or genetic modifications contributing to human health and disease or 2) enhanced classification and characterization of well-phenotyped specimens through genotype or next-generation sequence data addition.
This opportunity operates under the Human Genome Research program (CFDA 93.172), administered by NHGRI. Current service information and capabilities are available at https://cidr.jhmi.edu. Applications undergo competitive scientific and technical merit review, with scoring and advisory council consideration determining award selection based on scientific merit, program relevance, and program balance. Individual project grants typically require nine months from submission to award of funds.
