About this opportunity
The National Institutes of Health is soliciting applications for a Cellular Senescence Network (SenNet) Data Coordination and Integration Center (SenNet DCIC) cooperative agreement, with an application due date of November 24, 2026. NIH intends to fund one DCIC award at approximately $3 million per year in direct costs over a maximum 5-year project period; clinical trials are not permitted.
Eligible applicants include domestic higher education institutions (public and private), 501(c)(3) nonprofits, non-501(c)(3) nonprofits, for-profit organizations, small businesses, state and local governments, county and city/township governments, special district governments, independent school districts, tribal governments (federally recognized and not federally recognized), tribal organizations, and public or Indian housing authorities. Faith-based and community-based organizations, regional organizations, eligible federal agencies, U.S. territories or possessions, and non-domestic entities are also eligible. Foreign components and foreign subawards are not permitted.
The DCIC will serve as the central data and informatics infrastructure for Stage 2 of SenNet, responsible for ingesting, harmonizing, integrating, and disseminating consortium-generated data on cellular senescence across human tissues. Applications must address four core scientific priorities: developing flexible data analysis pipelines for multi-omic datasets and capturing experimental provenance; managing Stage 1 SenNet data continuity and integrating healthy tissue data with new Stage 2 diseased tissue data; creating and maintaining a public Senescence Atlas portal with search, filtering, download, API, and visualization capabilities for both open-access and controlled-access data; and organizing hackathons, user feedback sessions, and educational programs.
Applications must propose four distinct elements: Vision and Management (5 pages), Stage 1 Data Component (10 pages), Consortium Data Portal and Webpages (10 pages), and SenNet Organization and Outreach Component or SOOC (5 pages, exactly $600,000 per year in direct costs). The SOOC budget must dedicate 40–45% annually to educational programs (fellowships and internships). Program Directors/Principal Investigators must commit a minimum of 2.4 calendar months effort, and all Element Leaders must commit at least 1.5 calendar months. Applications undergo NIH peer review for scientific and technical merit, followed by national advisory council review. The program falls under CFDA 93.310 (Trans-NIH Research Support) administered by the National Institute on Aging on behalf of the NIH Office of Strategic Coordination.
Synopsis
The purpose of this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) is to support the SenNet Data Coordination and Integration Center (SenNet DCIC) as a core component of Stage 2 of the NIH Common Fund Cellular Senescence Network (SenNet). The DCIC will enable timely, high-quality submission, harmonization, integration, and broad dissemination of SenNet-generated data and associated resources by developing and implementing consortium-wide policies, standards, and workflows for data formats, metadata, quality control, and release. The DCIC will maintain and enhance SenNet's data infrastructure (e.g., portal and associated tools) to support data discovery, access, analysis, visualization, and reuse, and will integrate Stage 1 and Stage 2 outputs to support atlasing and cross-study comparability. DCIC applications should also propose goals and aims for SenNet consortium-wide organizational and outreach activities (SenNet OOC functions).
Eligibility
Other Eligible ApplicantsIndian/Native American Tribal Governments (Other than Federally Recognized);Eligible Agencies of the Federal Government;U.S. Territory or Possession;Faith-based or Community-based Organizations;Regional Organizations;Non-domestic (non-U.S.) Entities (Foreign Institutions).
