About this opportunity
The Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), a component of the Department of Justice Office of Justice Programs, seeks qualified organizations to provide technical services and training supporting the Tribal Justice System Infrastructure Program (TJSIP). Awardees will strengthen tribal justice system capacity by addressing operations and physical infrastructure needs, including renovating, expanding, replacing, or constructing tribal justice-related facilities to enhance public safety and accountability on tribal lands. Eligible applicants include federally recognized tribal organizations, higher education institutions (public and private), nonprofits (501(c)(3) and non-501(c)(3)), small businesses, and for-profit organizations. The solicitation will be evaluated based on merit, programmatic and budgetary considerations, risk assessment, and the applicant's capacity to deliver comprehensive technical assistance aligned with TJSIP objectives. The application deadline is April 10, 2026.
Historical awards under the Tribal Justice Assistance program (CFDA 16.596) have ranged from approximately $97,000 to $1.6 million, with project periods spanning up to 60 months (typically October 1 through September 30). Selected awardees will provide support to tribal jurisdictions implementing coordinated justice initiatives, with performance occurring on tribal lands and communities throughout the continental United States and Alaska. All awarded entities must comply with Department of Justice financial management requirements, including maintaining records for three years following submission of final expenditure reports and adhering to applicable audit and compliance standards outlined in 2 CFR Part 200.
