About this opportunity

This federal grant opportunity, titled "BJA FY25 Improving Substance Use Disorder Treatment and Recovery Outcomes for Adults in Reentry," is sponsored by the Department of Justice Office of Justice Programs Bureau of Justice Assistance. The funding aims to enhance corrections and community supervision systems' and community-based providers' capacity to address the substance use disorder (SUD) treatment and recovery support needs of people during incarceration and upon reentry. The program has two categories of eligible applicants: units of state, local, and tribal governments, and non-profit organizations. The key objectives are to support the implementation or expansion of evidence-based and trauma-informed SUD treatment programming, as well as to promote the implementation of deflection as part of the treatment and recovery safety net.

The typical award values for this federal grant program range from $500,000 to $1,000,000, with project periods spanning two to three years. The places of performance may include correctional facilities, community-based service centers, and local jurisdictions across the United States where formerly incarcerated individuals are returning to their communities.
