About this opportunity

The Bureau of Justice Assistance seeks applications from state, local, and tribal governments to implement pay for success programs that improve reentry and reduce recidivism for those involved in the criminal justice system. Applicant organizations must be units of state or local government, including public housing authorities. Funds will support performance-based contracts to address treatment and recovery needs with the goal of lowering recidivism. Applications will be evaluated based on clearly defined outcomes and rigorous evaluation plans; the deadline for submissions is April 25, 2024.

Awards are expected to range from $500,000 to $2,000,000 over a 3-year period. Funded programs will provide services for individuals both during and after incarceration across various locations, as recipients will use the funding to establish reentry programs within state and local correctional facilities and communities for formerly incarcerated individuals reintegrating from prison.

Synopsis

With this solicitation, BJA seeks to fund state, local, and tribal governments to improve reentry, reduce recidivism, and address the treatment and recovery needs of people who are currently involved in the criminal justice system or were formerly involved that ties payment for services to reaching agreed-upon goals. This program furthers the DOJ's mission by reducing recidivism and building more effective service delivery systems that pay for performance and outcomes.
