About this opportunity
The Bureau of Justice Assistance is soliciting applications from the six Regional Information Sharing Systems (RISS) Centers with an application due date of September 1, 2026. This is an invitation-only funding opportunity; only entities that received invitation letters may apply.
The six eligible applicants are ROCIC (Southern region), MAGLOCLEN (Middle Atlantic-Great Lakes), MOCIC (Midwestern), NESPIN (New England), RMIN (Rocky Mountain), and WSIN (Western). These centers provide investigative support to federal, state, local, tribal, and territorial criminal justice agencies by facilitating secure information sharing and intelligence collaboration across jurisdictional lines. They deliver services including criminal intelligence analysis, forensic examinations, investigative equipment loans, event deconfliction through the RISSafe system, analytical case support, and specialized law enforcement training.
Recent award amounts to the six centers ranged from $10.1 million to $19.9 million per center. Awards are made for a period of 12 months, with award periods eligible for extension if specific criteria are met. In some cases, no-cost extensions may be available under terms detailed in the Department of Justice Grants Financial Guide.
The program addresses violent crime, narcotics trafficking, gang activity, organized crime, human trafficking, cybercrime, and terrorism. Work is performed regionally, collectively serving more than 10,500 member agencies across all fifty states, U.S. territories, and Canadian provinces. The program operates under 28 CFR Part 23 guidelines. Applications will undergo eligibility, responsiveness, merit, programmatic, budget, and risk reviews. The Assistant Attorney General makes final award decisions. Assistance Listing 16.610 applies.
