About this opportunity

The Bureau of Justice Assistance is soliciting applications from the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute under the Bridging Immigration-related Deficits Experienced Nationwide (BIDEN) Program to support law enforcement operations targeting criminal aliens, drug trafficking, human trafficking, and gang activity, with applications due September 9, 2026. This is an invitation to apply limited to a single named applicant.

Eligible applicants are restricted to the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute. Funding will support personnel, travel, training, and equipment purchases and maintenance, including but not limited to aerial surveillance equipment, to enable coordinated, intelligence-led law enforcement operations that apprehend violent offenders, disrupt drug and human trafficking, and enhance public safety.

The program operates under Assistance Listing 16.076, funded through the BIDEN Reimbursement Fund established by Public Law 119-21. The statutory authorities authorize grants to eligible states, state agencies, and units of local government for investigating and prosecuting violent crime, criminal enforcement initiatives, and immigration enforcement and removal efforts, including locating and apprehending aliens who have committed crimes while unlawfully present; collecting and analyzing law enforcement investigative information on gang and criminal activity; investigating and prosecuting crimes committed by aliens and related drug and human trafficking offenses; court operations; temporary criminal detention; transporting aliens; and vehicle maintenance and logistics support for law enforcement.

Award decisions are made by the Assistant Attorney General. Successful applicants must accept or decline their award package within 45 days of notification. Recipients must retain all award-related records for three years from submission of the final expenditure report and comply with 2 CFR Part 200 audit and administrative requirements.
