About this opportunity

The Department of the Interior National Park Service is seeking competitive grant applications from 501(c)(3) organizations that own and operate memorials commemorating the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks at the World Trade Center and Pentagon sites. Eligible memorials must offer free admission to active and retired military members, registered 9/11 first responders, victims' family members, and provide weekly free public admission hours. The grant program aims to support the continued operation, security, and maintenance of these memorial sites. Applications will be evaluated across five merit review criteria: project need, project budget, operational/security/maintenance impact, preservation/education impact, and visitation impact. The submission deadline is September 3, 2025, at noon Mountain Time, with applications to be submitted through Grants.gov.

The grant opportunity has a total anticipated funding range of $100,000 to $4,000,000, with individual awards expected to be between $100,000 and $400,000. The program requires a 1-to-1 non-Federal matching fund commitment from applicants. The anticipated performance period for awarded grants is from September 9, 2025, to September 30, 2026, covering approximately one year of memorial operations and maintenance.
