About this opportunity

The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Veterans Integrated Service Network 2, specifically the New Jersey VA Medical Center Lyons Campus, is seeking capability statements for the removal and replacement of three bowling alley lanes' mechanical operating equipment and components in Building 57. This is a Request for Information and Sources Sought notice, not a formal solicitation, and interested contractors are invited to submit written capability statements that include their socio-economic status. Key requirements include providing personnel, materials, services, supervision, and facilities to complete the bowling alley upgrade project, classified under NAICS code 238290 (Other Building Equipment Contractors) with a $22 million size standard. The government will evaluate submissions based on contractor capability and socio-economic classification; however, this preliminary notice does not obligate the government to award a contract. All written inquiries and capability statements must be submitted by noon EST on November 6, 2025, to Daniel Barone at Daniel.Barone@va.gov, with the understanding that if sufficient interest is demonstrated, a formal solicitation will be posted on SAM.gov.

This procurement is set aside exclusively for Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSB), limiting competition to contractors meeting this designation. No incumbent contractor or current service provider is identified in the available documentation. While a specific award value is not disclosed in this pre-solicitation phase, the $22 million size standard for the NAICS category provides an indication of the potential scope. The project scope encompasses comprehensive upgrades including management systems (Conqueror X Re-Entry), pinspotters (EDGE String), scoring systems (BES X), bumper and gutter systems, and lighting upgrades. The estimated performance timeline is 45 calendar days from notice to proceed, with all work to be conducted at the Lyons Campus location in Lyons, New Jersey. This sources sought period, which opened October 27, 2025, represents the initial market research phase before formal solicitation.
