About this opportunity
The Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support Clothing and Textiles (DLA Troop Support) is conducting a Sources Sought Notice to identify potential suppliers for woven polyester/wool fabric specifically intended for Air Force neckties. This market research initiative seeks domestically produced materials that comply with Berry Amendment requirements, which mandate the use of U.S.-originated textiles. The notice focuses on identifying manufacturers capable of producing cloth meeting specifications outlined in A-A-52106 and A-A-55199A commercial item descriptions. Interested contractors are required to contact Timothy Sweetra via email (Timothy.Sweetra@dla.mil) prior to June 10, 2025, to express their capabilities. While this is a market research exercise and does not guarantee a subsequent procurement, potential respondents should understand that any future solicitation will be published on SAM.gov, and contractors will be responsible for monitoring those postings.
No specific set-aside status has been designated for this potential procurement, and no incumbent contractors are mentioned in the notice. The targeted fabric must meet precise technical specifications, including specific polyester/wool blend ratios and manufacturing standards for military neckties. While no explicit award value or quantity is provided, the notice suggests the procurement is for ongoing military uniform textile supply, potentially supporting multiple military branches. The fabric must conform to detailed requirements including specific weave types, weight classes, color standards, and fiber composition tolerances. Manufacturers will need to demonstrate compliance with rigorous testing methods for characteristics such as fabric weight, yarn count, breaking strength, and fiber content to be considered viable suppliers for this potential contract opportunity.
