About this opportunity
The Air Force Test Center Operational Contracting Squadron at Eglin AFB, Florida has issued a Special Notice announcing their intent to award a sole source, firm-fixed price purchase order to Westnet Inc. for a Westnet First Alerting System Master Control Unit (MCU). This procurement is set aside for total small business and falls under NAICS code 334290 (Other Communications Equipment Manufacturing) with a size standard of 800 employees. The anticipated award date is on or around August 11, 2025, with the contract being justified under 41 USC 1901 and FAR 13.106-1(b)(1) for simplified acquisitions. The procurement stems from the need to replace a Master Control Unit that was struck by lightning at Station 3, Duke Field, for the Eglin Fire Emergency Services. Westnet Inc., located in Huntington Beach, California, has been identified as the exclusive manufacturer and authorized re-seller of the required First-In branded equipment that can interface with the existing Fire Station Alerting System.
The primary purpose of this Special Notice is to inform potential contractors of the government's intent to proceed with a sole source acquisition while allowing for market feedback to determine if competitive procurement might be viable in the future. This notice is not a solicitation, and no solicitation package will be issued, meaning requests for proposal documents will not be honored. Any responses must be submitted in writing via email to Victoria Thomas at victoria.thomas.6@us.af.mil and should demonstrate the respondent's capability to provide the required services at no cost or obligation to the government. The response deadline is August 11, 2025, and verbal responses will not be accepted. The government will use submitted information solely to assess whether conducting competitive procurements for similar requirements would be in the government's best interest, with the requiring activity committed to conducting future market surveys to potentially reduce single source acquisitions.
