About this opportunity

The Department of Veterans Affairs, Minneapolis VA Health Care System, cancelled its solicitation for lease of a mobile 1.5 Tesla MRI trailer effective September 30, 2026; no award will be made.

The procurement was originally issued July 16, 2026 as solicitation 36C26326Q0835, a Firm Fixed Price RFQ under FAR Part 12 conducted as a total Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business set-aside. The base contract period was August 15, 2026 through August 14, 2027, with four optional one-year renewal periods. Place of performance was the Minneapolis VA Health Care System, 1 Veterans Drive, Minneapolis, Minnesota 55417. The NAICS code was 532490 with a $40 million ceiling.

The requirement included delivery and installation of a mobile MRI unit equipped with a 70-centimeter bore, Siemens RF TIM architecture (204 x 48 or 204 x 64 receiver channel configuration) or equivalent systems from alternative manufacturers meeting stated specifications, full coil set (head, knee, spine, shoulder, foot/ankle, hand/wrist, body array), Medrad injector system, and climate-controlled trailer with two staff workstations and ADA-compliant dressing room. Contractor was to construct an enclosed walkway connecting trailer to existing facility per International Building Code Chapter 31, provide preventive maintenance (minimum two scheduled visits annually) with 24/7 support and 30-minute callback response, maintain 90 percent equipment uptime, deliver training for up to three MRI technologists, and achieve MRI go-live within the first contract week. The previous incumbent contract awarded to Salvadorini Consulting LLC valued $2,745,240 including options.

The Minneapolis VA Health Care System determined that the original requirement is no longer needed because all in-house MRI systems have returned to full operational status and staffing initiatives have increased capacity sufficiently to meet current service demands.
