About this opportunity
The Department of the Army Materiel Command Mission and Installation Contracting Command at Fort Drum is seeking a Visual and Fluorescent Magnetic Particle Inspection High Definition Video Bore Inspection System specifically designed for 81-120mm cannon gun tubes. The solicitation requires a comprehensive video-based inspection system with high-resolution digital cameras capable of providing wide-angle and right-angle detailed views of gun tube interiors under controlled white and UV lighting. Key system requirements include encoders for on-screen positioning information, an on-board recorder for capturing high-definition digital stills and movies, and compatibility with horizontal wet magnetic particle inspection machines or shop floor inspection stations. The system must be capable of visual examination of cannon gun tubes with a maximum tube length of 120 inches. Although specific evaluation criteria are not explicitly detailed in the solicitation, the technical specifications suggest a stringent review process focused on precision, imaging quality, and compatibility with existing inspection equipment.
This contract opportunity is designated as a Total Small Business set-aside, meaning only small businesses are eligible to compete for the solicitation. The procurement falls under NAICS Category 334513 for Instruments and Related Products Manufacturing, with a Product Service Code (PSC) of 6650 for Optical Instruments and Test Equipment. While specific award values are not specified, the technical complexity and specialized nature of the inspection system suggest a potentially significant contract value. The place of performance is expected to be at Fort Drum or associated Army facilities, with the system intended for use in military equipment maintenance and inspection processes. The solicitation was posted on April 9, 2025, with proposals due by April 16, 2025, indicating a relatively short response window for interested small business contractors specializing in advanced optical and inspection technologies.
