About this opportunity

The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN) 15 is conducting a sole-source procurement for rental of inpatient hospital beds, mattresses, and accessories supporting nine VA Medical Centers across Illinois, Missouri, and Kansas, with responses due by June 8, 2026. The sole-source award is justified by Hill-Rom's exclusive ownership of proprietary air-fluidizing therapy bed technology required for post-operative care of pressure injury flap surgical closures in spinal cord injury patients; market research confirmed no other vendors, including small businesses or service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses, can fulfill the complete requirement across all equipment categories.

The contractor shall provide delivery, setup, installation, training, maintenance, troubleshooting, and 24/7 pick-up services for standard hospital beds, bariatric beds, bariatric ICU beds, critical care ICU beds, air-fluidized therapy beds, low air loss therapy surfaces, and foam-type pressure redistribution surfaces. Services cover VAMC Marion (Illinois), VAMC Kansas City, VAMC St. Louis (John Cochran and Jefferson Barracks divisions), VAMC Columbia, VAMC Poplar Bluff, VAMC Wichita, VAMC Topeka, and VAMC Leavenworth. The estimated contract value is $3,520,635 over five years ($704,127 annually for base year plus four option years). A sources-sought notice was issued March 13–24, 2026. Three required approvals have been obtained and digitally signed.
