The National Institute of Health (NIH), Clinical Center (CC), Department of Laboratory Medicine ,Hematology currently uses manual processes to perform serum viscosity testing for clinical purposes. The Benson BV1 Clinical Viscometer will allow manual processes to be converted to automated processes. The analyzer will offer:
The BV1 clinical viscometer will measure the viscosity of human biological fluids: blood plasma, blood serum.
Benson Viscometers, Ltd. is the original equipment manufacturer and it is advisable to use them for all semi-automated viscosity patient testing. The risk of unwarranted expenditure/waste of very limited Government research funds due to errors are more likely if we were to go without the analyzer. It is therefore deemed to be in the Government’s best interest that the equipment be procured by Benson Viscometers.
This acquisition is being conducted using policies unique to the acquisition of commercial items prescribed in FAR Part 12, in conjunction with the policies and procedures for the competition requirements of Part 6. Interested parties may identify their interest and capabilities in response to this posting. The determination by the Government not to compete the proposed requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
