About this opportunity
The Naval Sea Systems Command, through the Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division (NSWCCD), is conducting market research to identify qualified sources for the manufacturing and fabrication of nickel aluminum bronze (NAB) canisters and piece parts for the Virginia-Class propulsor manufacturing program. This Request for Information (RFI) serves as an opportunity for both small and large businesses to demonstrate their capabilities and interest in performing machining services under an anticipated Firm Fixed Price Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity contract. Contractors must possess the capability to manufacture two categories of precision turned components—Regular and Large (R4) configurations—with comprehensive quality assurance including First Article Inspection and Lot Acceptance Inspection. The evaluation will determine whether to utilize a Small Business/Socioeconomic Set-Aside and make other procurement strategy decisions based on the capabilities and interest demonstrated by respondents. Responses must be submitted electronically by 5:00 PM Eastern Standard Time on February 6, 2026, and should include company information, points of contact, CAGE and DUNS numbers, and company size classification.
No set-aside designation has been established for this opportunity; however, the Government will make a determination regarding Small Business/Socioeconomic Set-Aside potential based on RFI responses. The anticipated contract will be a single-award, five-year Firm Fixed Price Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity agreement classified under NAICS Code 332721 (Precision Turned Product Manufacturing). Delivery schedules vary based on quantity requirements, ranging from 90 days for orders of 200 units or fewer to 270 days for quantities between 401 and 650 units, with deliveries designated for Bethesda, Maryland, and Kittery, Maine. Contractors must maintain ISO 9001:2015 certification or equivalent and implement a Configuration Management Program, along with hosting a Post-Award Conference within 30 days of contract award. While specific award values are not disclosed in this RFI, the multi-year indefinite quantity nature of the contract and the technical complexity of submarine propulsion components indicate a significant procurement opportunity.
