About this opportunity

The Southwest Regional Maintenance Center (SWRMC), a part of the Department of the Navy Naval Sea Systems Command, is conducting market research to identify potential suppliers for original equipment manufacturer (OEM) direct replacement parts for the USS SOMERSET (LPD-25) ship's main propulsion diesel engines (MPDE). The sources sought announcement is focused on gathering information from industry about the capability to provide 59 specific long lead-time material (LLTM) line items, primarily Fairbanks Morse Defense manufactured parts. Interested companies must submit a letter of interest by 2 PM local time on December 16, 2024, detailing their ability to provide all required materials by March 28, 2025. The response should include company details, point of contact information, and answers to specific questions about business size and authorized distributor status. Evaluation will focus on the company's capability to meet OEM part requirements and deliver within the specified timeline.

The procurement is not set aside for any specific small business category, though SWRMC has expressed particular interest in small business capabilities. Potential respondents must qualify under NAICS code 333618 (Other Engine Equipment Manufacturing), with a small business size standard of 1,500 employees. The contract is anticipated to be a firm fixed-price award for two main propulsion diesel engines' overhaul parts, with delivery required to the SWRMC MAC-MO Shipping/Receiving facility at the U.S. Naval Station in National City, California. While no specific contract value is mentioned, the comprehensive parts list includes items such as turbocharger kits, various bolts, nuts, actuators, and main bearing replacements. The procurement supports the upcoming Fiscal Year 2025 Dry Docking Selected Restricted Availability (DSRA) for the USS SOMERSET.
