About this opportunity

The United States Coast Guard is conducting market research through a Request for Information to identify manufacturers capable of producing replacement hangar doors for USCGC HEALY, with responses due by September 30, 2026.

The hangar door system must fill an existing 17'-0" (W) x 18'-0" (H) opening and accommodate transit of an H-60 helicopter with folding rotor and tail variant without obstruction or interference. The doors shall meet Type 1 Class 1 requirements per MIL-DTL-24151 (excluding sections 3.4.2.5, 3.4.2.6, and 3.4.2.11), operate in Arctic conditions, and comply with NAVAIR Certification. The procurement includes a pair of hangar doors, associated tracks, and operator system.

Respondents must document manufacturing capability through examples of similar door systems delivered within the past five years, including ship name, installation date, pictures, dimensions, operator specifications, and technical details—or provide detailed engineering and manufacturing justification. Submissions must address proposed door material and arrangement, operator make and model, light and water sealing methods, how MIL-DTL-24151 testing requirements will be met, estimated lead time post-award, and availability of technical representatives for installation support across the Continental United States.

This RFI does not constitute a promise to issue a Request for Proposal. Responses are submitted at the interested party's expense and become Coast Guard property. Non-response does not preclude participation in any future solicitation. Submissions are due electronically in PDF format by 5:00 PM EDT on September 30, 2026, addressed to Corry D Thomas (primary), Robin B. Kloeppel (primary), or Brian J Adornato (alternate).
