About this file

This is a Request for Information (RFI) issued by the United States Coast Guard for replacement hangar doors on the USCGC HEALY. The USCG seeks to understand the market capabilities of companies that can manufacture a pair of replacement hangar doors with associated tracks and operators to fill an existing 17'-0" (W) x 18'-0" (H) hangar opening. The door system must accommodate the transit of an H-60 helicopter with folding rotor and tail variant without obstructions, meet Type 1 Class 1 door requirements per MIL-DTL-24151 (with specified exceptions to sections 3.4.2.5, 3.4.2.6, and 3.4.2.11), operate in Arctic conditions, and comply with NAVAIR Certification. The RFI is issued for information and planning purposes under FAR Part 10 Market Research and does not constitute a commitment to issue a Request for Proposal. Responses are not paid by the government, and non-response does not preclude future participation.

Respondents must provide documentation of capability to produce such door systems, including information on similar doors manufactured within the past five years (with ship name, installation date, pictures, dimensions, operator details, and specifications) or a detailed explanation of sufficient engineering and manufacturing capability. Additionally, respondents must submit information on proposed door material and arrangement, make and model of the operator, sealing methods for light and water, explanation of how testing requirements per MIL-DTL-24151 will be met (using standard or alternative test methods), estimated lead time after contract award, and availability and quantity of technical representatives who can travel throughout the Continental United States to provide installation assistance. All RFI responses must be submitted electronically in PDF format by 5:00 PM EDT on September 30, 2026, to Corry D Thomas (primary), Robin B. Kloeppel (primary), or Brian J Adornato (alternate), with subject line "HEALY DOOR RFI RESPONSE - [Company Name] - RFI # 70Z08526SSNHEALYDOORS." All submissions become the property of the USCG and will not be returned. Proprietary information should be clearly marked and provided separately as an appendix.
