About this opportunity
The U.S. Coast Guard has published a Special Notice for the procurement of a replacement turbocharger for the USCGC Healy, an auxiliary vessel operated by the Department of Homeland Security. This opportunity is designated as a Total Small Business set-aside, meaning only small business entities are eligible to compete. The notice was posted on December 22, 2025, with a proposal due date of December 30, 2025. The procurement is for a single turbocharger unit that experienced failure during post-overhaul operational assessment, and the Coast Guard requires immediate replacement to prevent additional damage to the vessel's Auxiliary Diesel Generator system. The work has already been awarded through the JOTFOC procurement process under Purchase Request 52000PR260001501.
The objective of this Special Notice is to secure a turbocharger (Part Number 9528223) for delivery to Base Seattle in Seattle, Washington for installation on the USCGC Healy. The requirement stems from excessive vibrations detected in the turbocharger unit at 42.62 g's (peak-to-peak), which exceeds acceptable operational limits and necessitates urgent replacement. Small businesses interested in responding must submit proposals by December 30, 2025, and the part is expected to be delivered to 1519 Alaskan Way S, Seattle, WA 98134, with installation to occur during the vessel's next scheduled availability. The procurement falls under the Ship Building and Repairing industry classification (NAICS 336611) and maintenance/repair of ship and marine equipment services (PSC J020). Contractors with questions or seeking additional details should contact LTJG Igor Guerrero at (510) 605-0519 or igor.guerrero@uscg.mil.
