About this opportunity

The 10th Contracting Squadron at the United States Air Force Academy announced a notice of intent to sole-source award a Firm-Fixed-Price contract to Solmirus Corporation for a Sky Monitor System, with capability statements due by 2:00 p.m. Mountain Daylight Time on June 24, 2026. The justification cites market research confirming that mandatory sources cannot meet all required specifications and that standard commercial sky monitor systems lack one or more salient characteristics: fisheye field of view of 180 degrees or greater, cooled CCD, variable exposures for long-exposure imaging, automatic dome defrost, weather-proof housing, integrated filter wheel, remote operation capability, 16-bit sensor dynamic range greater than 30 megapixels. The Department of Physics and Meteorology requested the system for the Academy. Though this notice of intent is not a competitive request, any responsible source believing it can meet these requirements may submit a capability statement by the deadline. The Government will consider all timely submissions solely to determine whether to conduct a competitive procurement; a decision not to compete remains at the Government's discretion. Submit capability statements to Ms. Sana Hamad (sana.hamad@us.af.mil) and Mr. Kenneth Jackson (kenneth.jackson.30@us.af.mil).
