About this opportunity
The United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) is seeking sources for approximately 1,100 cadet parade caps, as detailed in a sources sought notice for market research purposes. The procurement is specifically for Type II parade caps, with specifications outlined in the attached technical document Atch 1_Spec 490-171102-Cap, Wheel, Cadet. Interested businesses of any size are invited to submit a capabilities package that demonstrates their ability to manufacture the required caps, with mandatory inclusion of their Unique Entity Identifier (UEI), Cage Code, and System for Award Management (SAM) registration details. The market research aims to determine potential sources' capabilities, business size, socio-economic status, and experience in producing similar products for government and commercial customers. Responses must be submitted electronically to danielle.hyde.2@us.af.mil by June 5, 2025, at 10:00am MST, with questions accepted via the same email address prior to the closing date.
The pre-solicitation notice does not specify a particular small business set-aside, indicating the opportunity is open to all business sizes within the NAICS 315990 category (Apparel Accessories and Other Apparel Manufacturing) with a size standard of 600 employees. While no specific award value is mentioned, the procurement involves a precise technical specification for white parade caps designed for male and female cadets, with size ranges from 6 to 8 for men and 19 to 25.5 for women. The technical specification provides extensive details on materials, construction methods, and quality control requirements, suggesting a complex manufacturing process. Future acquisition information will be published on sam.gov, and potential vendors are responsible for monitoring updates. The procurement appears to be part of the United States Air Force Academy's standard uniform procurement process, with a focus on detailed technical compliance and manufacturing precision.
