About this opportunity
The United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) has issued a Special Notice announcing their intent to award a single-source contract to Stratasys, Inc. for repair services and replacement parts for a Stratasys Fortus 450mc 3D printer used by the Dean of Faculty Mechanical Engineering department. The procurement falls under NAICS code 334517 (Machine Tool Manufacturing) and will be awarded as a firm-fixed-price commercial item acquisition using simplified acquisition procedures. The contracting office is the 10th Contracting Squadron located at USAF Academy, Colorado. USAFA has determined that Stratasys is the sole source provider for the required parts and services, as confirmed through vendor communications in July 2025. The authority for this non-competitive award is based on FAR 13.106-1(b)(1)(i), which allows single-source procurement when only one source is reasonably available.
The primary purpose of this Special Notice is to inform potential contractors about the planned single-source award while providing an opportunity for other vendors to demonstrate their capability to provide equivalent supplies or services. The required components include specific circuit boards (CS, MIO BOARD 450MC and CS, SSC BOARD) along with installation and repair services necessary to restore the printer to full functionality within manufacturer specifications. Written responses must be submitted by July 15, 2025, at 1000 MDT to john.perry.33@us.af.mil and should include documentation of the respondent's capability to provide the required supplies at no cost or obligation to the Government. This notice is not a solicitation and no solicitation package will be issued. Responses will be considered solely to determine whether future competitive procurement would be in the Government's best interest, and all communications must reference the Notice ID: USAFADFMEFortus450mcRepair.
