About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force is seeking satellite airtime and engineering and maintenance support services for the transition to operation of an alternative position, navigation, and timing (ALTPNT/ALTNAV) solution developed by the United States Army Program Executive Office for Intelligence, Electronic Warfare & Sensors. This Request for Information (RFI) is restricted to current pLEO (private Low Earth Orbit) contractors who maintain the appropriate NAICS code 517410 (Satellite Telecommunications) in their SAM registration. Eligible contractors must demonstrate the capability to provide ongoing satellite communications and technical support for this critical Army positioning and navigation system. The procurement will be evaluated based on contractors' ability to support the operational transition and maintain continuity of the alternative navigation solution. The due date for responses to this pre-solicitation notice is May 1, 2026, allowing interested contractors approximately eleven days to submit their qualifications and capability statements.
This pre-solicitation notice carries no set-aside designation and is available to all qualified commercial pLEO contractors meeting the specified NAICS requirements. The opportunity is limited to current contractors already engaged in similar satellite telecommunications work, indicating the government may be seeking continuity with existing service providers familiar with the ALTPNT program. The notice does not specify award values, budget ranges, or detailed service timelines, as this is a pre-solicitation phase designed to gather information and assess contractor capabilities before the formal solicitation is released. Contractors should prepare documentation demonstrating their satellite airtime capacity, engineering expertise, and maintenance support capabilities specific to alternative positioning and navigation systems. Further details regarding contract duration, performance requirements, and pricing expectations are expected to be included in the forthcoming formal solicitation.
