About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Air Combat Command is conducting a sources sought inquiry for portable speed monitors through Solicitation Number FA480325QB0030. The agency seeks vendors capable of providing radar-based speed monitoring equipment that can be quickly deployed by a single person and transported via a 2-inch receiver hitch. The speed monitors must feature LED displays for real-time vehicle speed information, customizable messaging capabilities, robust steel frames with weather-resistant coatings, DOT-approved lighting and reflective tape, and solar panel configurations for independent operation. Additional requirements include camera integration for capturing speeding violations and variable message signs to support traffic management and security enforcement activities. Interested companies must submit capability statements to Senior Airman Michael Treaster and Ms. Mar Rodriguez Martinez by Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at 2:00 PM EST, with explicit instructions not to submit questions or offers at this preliminary stage.
This procurement opportunity is designated as a 100% small business set-aside under NAICS Code 339950 (Sign Manufacturing) and PSC Code 6310 (Traffic and Transit Signal Systems). The sources sought notice does not identify any current incumbents or existing contractors for these services. No award values or budget ranges are specified in the documentation, as this is strictly an information-gathering exercise to assess market capabilities. The government has not disclosed the anticipated quantity of speed monitors required or provided specific timelines for future procurement activities. The emphasis on one-person deployment capability, solar power independence, and comprehensive safety features suggests the Air Force requires highly portable and self-sufficient traffic monitoring solutions for various operational environments.
