About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Veterans Integrated Service Network 19 has issued a Notice of Intent to Sole Source for the Rocky Mountain Geriatrics Conference under solicitation number 36C25925Q0692. The Network Contracting Office (NCO) 19, located in Greenwood Village, Colorado, intends to award a sole source procurement to the University of Utah, Division of Geriatrics for hosting a regional geriatric-specific conference. This special notice falls under NAICS code 561920 (Convention and Trade Show Organizers) with a business size standard of $20M employees. The conference is scheduled for September 11-12, 2025, and will be sponsored jointly by the University of Utah's Division of Geriatrics and the Geriatric Research, Education and Clinical Center (GRECC). The justification for sole sourcing is that the University of Utah, Division of Geriatrics is identified as the only academic source in Utah hosting a regional geriatric-specific conference.
The conference aims to educate a multi-professional audience on advancing care for older adults with serious illnesses, focusing on unique challenges faced by geriatric patients during hospitalization and surgery. Key topics will include aligning surgery with patient goals, managing geriatric-specific health needs, improving discharge processes, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, and addressing policy issues such as age-friendly measures and state aging master plans. The event will provide Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits for participants and emphasize shared decision-making and co-management practices. Interested parties may submit their capabilities and interest by 4:00 PM Mountain Standard Time on Friday, August 8, 2025, to Lindsey.Zwaagstra@va.gov, though this notice explicitly states it is not a request for competitive quotes. The University will incur all conference expenses, with GRECC reimbursing a portion of costs based on a Memorandum of Understanding between VISN 19 and George E. Whalen VAMC dated September 12, 2024. The government retains sole discretion in determining whether to compete this requirement based on any responses received.
