About this opportunity
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Pittsburgh District, has issued a Special Notice for the procurement of one Trimble X9 LiDAR Scanner with associated accessories and supporting software. This acquisition is set aside for small businesses and represents the agency's intent to purchase state-of-the-art terrestrial LiDAR equipment for high-precision 3D scanning and geospatial data collection. The equipment will be utilized by the Geospatial Section to collect field data and generate LiDAR point clouds essential for drafting, modeling, and design across multiple engineering disciplines. The notice explicitly states that Trimble is the sole manufacturer of survey equipment currently used by the Pittsburgh District and most other districts within the Great Lakes and Ohio River Division. This procurement aims to ensure full compatibility with existing hardware, software, workflows, and data standards throughout the organization.
The Special Notice serves as a market research tool rather than a competitive solicitation, as it clearly states this is not a request for competitive quotes. Interested small business contractors may submit capability statements by August 8, 2025, demonstrating their ability to fulfill the requirement. Required submission elements include company name, UEI number, CAGE code, point of contact information, and a detailed capability statement addressing the procurement requirements. The acquisition's primary objective is to modernize the land survey program by increasing LiDAR data collection efficiency and enabling the retirement of obsolete equipment. The Trimble X9 represents a mission-critical investment that will enhance field performance, streamline data integration, and maintain alignment with enterprise-wide Trimble technology standards for ongoing and future engineering projects.
