About this opportunity

The National Park Service (NPS) at Whiskeytown National Recreation Area is soliciting quotations for tree pruning and deadwood removal services. The project requires a contractor to provide all supervision, labor, equipment, testing, and supplies necessary to prune twelve oak trees, with a specific focus on public safety and fire prevention. Quotations will be evaluated using simplified acquisition procedures, considering price, technical acceptability, relevant experience, and past performance to select the most advantageous offer. The solicitation requires a full-time ISA-certified arborist supervisor and mandates strict equipment, safety, and environmental compliance. Interested contractors must submit their complete quotations via email by May 16, 2025, with an optional site visit scheduled for May 13, 2025, and potential contractors are encouraged to submit any questions through email to the designated contact.

The contract is designated as a Total Small Business Set-Aside under NAICS code 561730, with a size standard of $9.5 million, meaning only small business concerns may submit quotations. The performance period runs from June 1, 2025, to December 19, 2025, with work to be completed between November 1st and March 31st. The project is located in Shasta County, California, specifically in the Tower House Historic District along Trinity Mountain Road, and involves pruning a large canyon live oak and eleven other oak trees. Contractors must reduce tree crown by 25%, remove hazardous limbs, and eliminate dead wood over two inches in diameter. While no specific incumbent is mentioned, the contract anticipates issuing a firm-fixed-price purchase order, with wage rates for workers determined by the U.S. Department of Labor's Wage and Hour Division for Shasta County.
